Steve Burks: Home

Growing up in Gary, Indiana, near Chicago (the blues & soul mecca), being raised in church, and then studying classical music on the college level, resulted in the sound I have now.

In 2011, I worked on an album for the International House of Blues Foundation with really good musicians: Bob Parr (bass), Alex Hahn (drums), Don Maracle (guitar), Umeki Neverson & Claudia Melton (vocals). It's the recorded version of a stage presentation we did for K-12 students on the history of the blues. I'm proud to have been a part of it. My 2009 album, "Look At Her," is available @ CD Baby. It's a blend of soul music & hip-hop (meaning I was rapping and singing on it). Clicking on the image below will take you to the project:
